Mutare Expands Voice Security for Webex Calling with Custom Rules for Precision Call Screening

New Custom Rules capabilities give organizations greater control over inbound call screening, enabling administrators to create tailored policies based on the calling number, called number, or a combination of both.

The enhancement extends Mutare's solution beyond broad, reputation-based enforcement, enabling precise call protection for specific destinations, including reception desks, main lines, call queues, help desks, executive lines, and other critical voice endpoints.

Mutare provides real-time analysis of inbound calls, assigning each a dynamic reputation score on a 0–5 scale. Administrators establish reputation thresholds within Webex Control Hub that determine whether calls are automatically allowed, challenged, or blocked based on risk.

Using the Mutare client portal, administrators can now create Custom Rules based on the calling number, called number, or a combination of both and assign a specific action:

• Allow: Ensure trusted callers reach their intended destination.
• Challenge: Apply additional verification to calls requiring greater scrutiny.
• Block: Prevent specific unwanted or threatening callers from reaching protected voice endpoints.

Custom Rules can override reputation-based treatment when organization-specific requirements call for a different action. This enables organizations to tailor protection for endpoints with different call patterns and risk profiles. For example, a public-facing reception desk may require a different security policy than an IT help desk, executive line, or other sensitive destination.
