MyNews.is Launches World's First Personalized Discovery Magazine

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, at the Madrone Studios in San Francisco, MyNews.is (http://www.mynews.is/) has been launched to the world. Founded by Christian Puricelli, former CEO of Onrest Web Services, and Filmon Ghirmai, MyNews.is began a quest today to transform how people discover and read news articles.

MyNews.is is a personalized discovery magazine, that lets people discover news that is of interest to them. Users choose their categories and sources that interest them and then rate these sources. MyNews.is then selects news stories that may interest the user.

The algorithm that selects the news stories for the user has been designed from the ground up to encourage discovery, and to avoid over-filtering. It analyzes over 50 different factors to determine the right order in which to show the articles. As well, the user will always have complete control over the inputs into the algorithm.

MyNews.is is available in a basic web version or through a web app. With the web app MyNews.is is the first company to make available a beautiful magazine-like reading experience for all devices, that will look like a real magazine. Readers can open the app fullscreen and can simply slide between different articles, like they would with a real magazine. Because of that readers no longer have to scan long lists of posts, making it for them easier to read news online.
