HOUSTON, July 28, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Texas TriCities Chapter (serving Houston, Austin and San Antonio) of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) at its last board meeting, elected David Preng as chapter chair and Bud Giesinger as chapter president. Mr. Preng had been president of the chapter since May of 2011. He replaces Thomas S. Glanville who had served as chairman since 2011 and who will now be honored as a member of the chapter executive council. The leadership experience and historical knowledge of these exceptional directors and business leaders will provide key insights for the continued identification of current and emerging issues that impact the economic sustainability of companies in our area. They will ensure that these issues are interpreted in ways that are relevant to our directors and boardrooms, and provide the resources to achieve the chapter's strategic success.
Mr. Glanville commented, "I am very pleased that David is succeeding me as chair of the Texas TriCities Chapter of the NACD. His long involvement as president and board member of the organization, and as a public company director, combined with his career as the founder and CEO of one of the premier executive search firms in Houston and the energy industry, make him uniquely qualified. As chapter president for the last five years, he has helped lead the chapter to great success and is very familiar with the opportunities and challenges for the chapter going forward."
David E. Preng has been on six public boards that encompass over thirty-five years of service. This includes serving as a Board Director of Cal Dive International from 2006 - 2014 (Governance and Compensation Chairman); Lead Director (and Organizer) of Community National Bank in Bellaire, Texas from 2002 until its sale in 2012; and for nine years (1997-2006), as a Director of Remington Oil and Gas (Chairman of the Compensation Committee and Lead Independent Director). Mr. Preng is a Founding Board Member, current Chair, and Board Leadership Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors Texas TriCities Chapter, Member of Texas A&M University's International Advisory Board, and a Fellow of the Institute of Directors in London. Since 1980, Mr. Preng has been President and CEO of Preng & Associates and earlier he held increasingly responsible financial, managerial and executive positions with Shell Oil, Litton Industries and Southwest Industries. In 2008, he was recognized by Business Week among "The World's 50 Most Influential Headhunters" and was also included in their recent ranking.
"I am pleased to offer my deepest thanks and gratitude to Tom Glanville for his vision, leadership and service to the NACD Texas TriCities Chapter as chair for the past five years and president the two years previously. Under his leadership and direction, the Texas TriCities Chapter has become a great advocate and resource for the board communities in Austin, Houston, and San Antonio and has become the leader amongst the NACD's 22 Chapters. Tom's friendly smile, quick wit, insights, and determination have been contributing factors for our growth and achievements locally. Tom, we give you our biggest and most heartfelt thanks!"
