NASA's Science: A Betrayal of Trust

This book reveals, "Science is not the exclusive domain of the NASA-funded in-crowd, but they act as if it is, ignoring important, fundamental, non-NASA-funded advances that they themselves missed ... Science is about telling the truth, the whole truth, but what passes at NASA appears to be a politically distorted version of the truth, which is not truth at all and which is not good science either ... Distortions and deceptions extend throughout NASA's widely promulgated but very flawed 'understanding' of the Solar System."
The book discloses, "For decades NASA officials have... permitted secret reviews by competitors, thus limiting competition for grants and contracts, and intimidating NASA scientists into never mentioning non-NASA new, relevant concepts, published in world-class scientific journals, that contradict the NASA storyline, thus failing to reveal the full truth in scientific investigations undertaken at taxpayer expense, deceiving the scientific community, teachers, students, and the general public and trivializing scientific investigations."
Moreover, "For decades... instead of making scientific discoveries... NASA officials have allowed the widespread making of models, which are based upon arbitrary assumptions and which fail to cite previous and/or contradictory work... There is a particularly dark side to making models: Models based upon arbitrary assumptions are (wrongly) promoted as being scientific and the absence of scientific standards attending their use can lead to gross misrepresentation such as was experienced with "climate models" in the global warming scare that began to unravel with the Climategate revelations."
As disclosed, "Deception extends to the top-tier of NASA management. ... So the question becomes this: did NASA's Chief Scientist ... misrepresent to conceal long-standing gross malfeasance of his office or ... misrepresent at NASA Administrator Bolden's behest? ... On December 20, 2011, I again wrote to NASA Administrator [Charles F.] Bolden and stated: 'So that there can be no question, I restate in words that should leave no doubt as to their meaning: For more than a decade, I allege, a coterie of scientists involved in investigations for NASA ... have knowingly and willingly deceived NASA officials, the scientific community, and the general public...Science is all about truth and integrity, subjects the importance of which you were trained to appreciate [at the United States Naval Academy]: 'Midshipmen are persons of integrity: They stand for what is right. They tell the truth and ensure that the full truth be known. They do not lie.' Respectfully, in the matter at hand, your own integrity and leadership are on the line.' I might have added, so is the integrity of the United States of America."
This book describes from a scientific standpoint NASA's involvement in the global warming scare, NASA's systematic deception regarding planetary origin, and internal energy and magnetic field generation in planets and large moons, NASA's bungling of Project Stardust, NASA's misrepresentation of the Mercury MESSENGER results which made it impossible for MESSENGER scientists to explain one of the most important observations, and top-tier NASA management's failure to investigate serious allegations of wrong doing.
