National Head Start Association Coming to Cleveland to Study its Success Story
CLEVELAND, Feb. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Council for Economic Opportunities in Greater Cleveland (CEOGC) today announced that the Executive Director of the National Head Start Association, Yasmina Vinci, is coming to Cleveland on February 28 to study the turnaround success of the Community Action Agency and its Head Start Program.
CEOGC's Jacklyn Chisholm, CEO and president, shared the agency's success story in December at the annual meeting of the National Head Start Association. Vinci is now coming to see firsthand how in a 18 month period Chisholm's leadership team was able to turnaround the troubled local agency's 14 locations, which today nearly all are operating with five star ratings as certified by the State of Ohio's Step Up to Quality program.
"Dr. Chisholm quickly created a culture of change that we needed to heal the agency and focus it again on serving the children," said Quiana Baskin, CEOGC board member. "Her success at recruiting and leading a team of change agents, leveraging technology investments to improve internal communications, hiring a new CFO and implementing improved financial management systems have allowed more funding to be reallocated to mission-critical programs that serve our children and improve the performance of our sites."
