National Jewish Health, Colorado Acute Long Term Hospital Announce Clinical Affiliation

DENVER, Jan. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Building on a shared desire to bring the highest level of critical and acute care to patients with respiratory diseases and other complex medical illnesses, Colorado Acute Long Term Hospital and National Jewish Health (NJH) have developed a clinical affiliation that brings National Jewish Health expertise in respiratory and critical care to patients at Colorado Acute.

On January 1, National Jewish Health physicians began providing leadership to the medical staff at Colorado Acute. Working collaboratively with the medical staff and clinicians of Colorado Acute, National Jewish Health also began implementing its highly regarded clinical protocols for pulmonary care. Colorado Acute plans to increase the number of pulmonary procedures and diagnostic services performed in the facility. The hospital has recently completed several renovations and is making additional capital investments in pulmonary equipment.

National Jewish Health physician Kenneth E. Lyn-Kew, MD, will serve as general medical director for Colorado Acute.  Dr. Lyn-Kew is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine.  He holds memberships with several clinical societies including the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Thoracic Society and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Educated at St. Louis University and Boston College, Dr. Lyn-Kew completed his Internal Medicine residency at Georgetown University and a Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship at University of Michigan.  His research interests include interventional and bedside technologies in the intensive care setting.

Joshua J. Solomon, MD, will serve as medical director for the pulmonary program at Colorado Acute.  Dr. Solomon is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine. He received his medical degree from Emory University, completed an internship and residency at the University of Texas Southwestern, followed by a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care at the University of Colorado Denver.  His research interests include Interstitial Lung Disease and Pulmonary Fibrosis, particularly in relationship to Autoimmune Disease.
