Completely rebuilt-to-new-standards units for adults and youth are being presented today along with a totally renovated geriatrics unit. Tuesday's event included mental healthcare awareness proclamations and honors saluting BCA for its expansion and renovation of the only acute mental health hospital in Detroit.
"We are already about halfway through a $20 million, three-phase investment in Detroit turning a formerly bankrupt eastside hospital into a major regional mental health asset with new models of diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care through our commitment to the single specialty of psychiatric healthcare," BCA CEO Buddy Turner said.
"BCA purchased in Nov. 2008 the license of the bankrupt Circle of Life mental health facility that was in the former Saratoga Hospital," BCA StoneCrest CEO Steve Savage added.
"We purchased the building and land in Jan. 2012 and have already completed major construction work. Our strategic plan calls for substantial improvements and investments over the next three years that will total about $20 million invested in Detroit to create an urban oasis and redefine how mental healthcare is delivered.
"BCA and our Detroit StoneCrest Center are committed to providing mental healthcare services to residents of Detroit and Michigan in a caring, compassionate and professional manner while preserving dignity and respect, promoting healing from within," Savage said. "Reintegrating our patients back into the community as soon as possible and offering them a chance at a better quality of life is our primary goal."
BCA StoneCrest Center programs currently serve adults, adolescents, seniors and developmentally delayed patients. A substance abuse and addiction program is currently in development with an anticipated launch in early 2013.
A day-long public community outreach and open house is being held all day Tuesday, Oct. 23 from 1:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with tours, refreshments and information on mental healthcare services availability.
