2nd Annual Tower Lighting Ceremony at 6:45pm #NationsCapitalPINK
WASHINGTON, Sept. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The nation's capital will be lit PINK by EBeauty Community and Georgetown Visitation's "Think Pink Society" on the eve of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. On Tuesday, September 30th, at 6:45pm, the tower at 1625 I Street, located a block in front of the White House and one of the highest building elevations in the city, will be awash in pink lighting. It will stay lit PINK for the month of October to kick off a wig drive and as a beacon of hope and support for all families affected by cancer. Event participants and visitors are encouraged to share the 1625 I Street PINK Lighting via #NationsCapitalPINK. EBeauty, a DC-based nonprofit that supports women undergoing cancer treatment, operates a free national wig exchange program for women undergoing chemotherapy.
"We were humbled by the overwhelming turnout and support for last year's lighting ceremony in memory of our friend and DC resident, Teresa Larson," stated Carolyn Callahan Keller, founder of EBeauty and two-time breast cancer survivor. "The 2nd annual lighting of the Nation's Capital PINK shows a new level of empowerment and commitment for women affected by cancer to act as a community for one another." The event and reception held on the roof top of 1625 I Street is supported by Edge Fund Advisors, Brookfield Properties, CBRE, Sibley Hospital, American Cancer Society and BLT Steak.
