Neoscape Relocates To 23 Drydock In Boston's Innovation District
Open, Collaborative Workspace Supports Interdisciplinary Creative Services
BOSTON, Sept. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Neoscape, a leading creative agency for 3D visualization, film and interactive services, recently signed a lease for 169,000 cubic feet at 23 Drydock Avenue in Boston's "Innovation District" and moved to the new location on July 11. The decision to move from the Fort Point Channel area stemmed from the agency's desire to expand to a larger, more innovative space that was better equipped to meet the needs of the studio's culture and workflow.
"Spanning just two small floors, our previous location lacked the space we needed to effectively collaborate and use our tools and creativity to their fullest potential," said Robert MacLeod, co-founder of Neoscape. "Our new office is one large, open floor with expansive windows which creates bright, collaborative workspace and the ability for all of our teams to seamlessly integrate and work together. The 13-foot ceilings are also better equipped to accommodate Neoscape's filming equipment and new, state-of-the-art green screen studio, allowing us to create innovative work that exceeds industry standards."
To aid in the design and build process of their new headquarters, Neoscape enlisted two companies with which they have longstanding relationships, Baker Design Group and Commodore Builders.
"Baker Design Group has always looked for opportunities to work with the Neoscape team on our projects. We've had the pleasure of learning about the Neoscape working culture through several previous collaborations," said Stephen Baker, president of Baker Design Group, Inc. "We're delighted to be working with them, to make their new headquarters the perfect venue for supporting their team and showcasing their work for clients and visitors."
Due to the compressed timeframe in which the design build took place, the decision to work with Baker Design and Commodore Builders was easy since both companies collaborate well together and were able to accommodate for associated challenges such as evolving design as construction occurred.
"The Neoscape project has really been a fun challenge for the project team. One of the bonuses of working on the ever-evolving design was having the architects literally one floor above us. Collaborating with Baker Design has been effortless," said Bob McAuliff, Commodore's project executive for the Neoscape project. "We had instantaneous communication and constant contact, particularly between Commodore's senior superintendent Al Tocci, and Baker's architectural lead, Steve Decatur. Neoscape was also integral to the process, visiting the site continuously and contributing to a truly collaborative effort."
While many of the building's original features were left exposed, the floor's spacious size allowed for a custom- built private editing suite and a glass-front server room, constructed to showcase Neoscape's servers and render farm, one of the largest in the northeast.
"We couldn't be more pleased with how the new space turned out," said Robert MacLeod. "This open, collaborative workspace truly supports the very interdisciplinary nature of our work. 23 Drydock is the perfect fit for our agency."
