"Our customers provide services that require a high level of availability and protection of key clinical, billing and other mission-critical data," said James L. Conway, chief executive officer, Netsmart Technologies. "As the provider of the software essential to their organizations, we are pleased to partner with Vision Solutions to make available a proven solution designed to protect our IBM-AIX operating system customers' critical data and ensure business continuity."
As organizations move to a paperless environment, they must ensure their data can be recovered quickly and completely in the event of a natural disaster, software corruption, security breach, virus attack, deleted files and other causes of data loss. In addition to data protection and recovery, the new service provides an additional return on investment by allowing providers to use replicated data for development, testing, reporting, training and tape back-ups.
The backup and recovery solution provided by Netsmart and Vision helps Netsmart customers meet HIPAA data disaster recovery requirements and mitigates the effects of unplanned downtime, such as inability to access clinical and billing systems, interruption of electronic prescribing capabilities, and delays in reporting and reimbursements. It should also reduce costs associated with downtime or data loss, including the inability to assist consumers, delayed billing cycles, interruption of cash flow, negative impact on revenue, added expense of manual data recovery, staff overtime and loss of staff productivity.
"Every healthcare provider needs to ask, 'How much could it cost me to lose even a small amount of data and information?' " said Edward Vesely, senior vice president of marketing at Vision Solutions. "It's essential for health and human service organizations to protect themselves from downtime and disasters, whether caused by natural means or human error. We are pleased to partner with Netsmart to provide their customers with the resources and expertise to protect their businesses, clients and staff."
