Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship Wins 2010 Distinguished Achievement Award for Mathematics Curriculum That Applies Math Skills to Real World Business Skills
NFTE's Math Curriculum Voted Best in Category for High School Students by the Association of Educational Publishers
WASHINGTON, June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) has been awarded the 2010 Distinguished Achievement Award by the Association of Educational Publishers (AEP) in the mathematics category for the curriculum "Entrepreneurship: Owning Your Future." Written by NFTE founder Steve Mariotti, the curriculum teaches the fundamentals of mathematics as well as offers a comprehensive guide to developing a business plan, giving students a chance to apply math skills to real-world business scenarios.
"NFTE's mission has always been to correlate fundamental skills taught in school, like math, with business skills, so students can see and apply the real life value of what they're learning," said Steve Mariotti, founder of NFTE. "NFTE is honored to receive this distinguished award for NFTE's Math Curriculum from AEP, and we're thrilled to offer award-winning curricula that prepare students for success in business long after their time in the classroom."
NFTE's winning math curriculum focuses on critical basic business skills including business communications, negotiating, business ethics, social responsibility, time management and goal setting. Over the past two decades, more than 280,000 high-risk youth NFTE graduates have been taught the fundamentals of becoming financially independent by running their own businesses. Curriculum like "Entrepreneurship: Owning Your Future" is the first step into teaching the essentials of small business and entrepreneurial programs that help future business owners to launch, sustain and grow their own businesses.
