Neuman's Kitchen Reacts to Kraft Cottage Cheese Recall

NEW YORK, May 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Kraft Foods Group issued a recall on a limited number of products originating from their Tulare, California plant on May 17, 2014. Examples of the affected food products include Breakstone's Cottage Cheese, Daily Chef Cottage Cheese, Knudsen's Cottage Cheese, and Simply Kraft Cottage Cheese products. Only certain lots are affected, and no other foods from the company are included in this recall. Neuman's Kitchen highlights alternative products to bypass the recall.

According to Nha-Van Nghe, Project Manager at NYC corporate caterer Neuman's Kitchen, consumers should feel safe eating cottage cheese products from Kraft Foods as long as it has a case code with a "W." The recall is limited to products from only one plant. Only those products with a plant code of 06-245 are affected. Consumers can find this code on the bottom of the cottage cheese cup or the top of the package. "However, consumers can also purchase cottage cheese from the following brands if they feel better doing so: Daisy, Friendship, Nancy's or Fiber One," said Nha-Van Nghe.

In a statement released on Saturday, May 17, 2014, Kraft Foods Group issued a recall of certain cottage cheese products produced in their Tulare, California plant. According to their statement, some of the ingredients used to produce their cottage cheese were not stored to reflect the company's temperature standards. Though there have been no illnesses reported, the company is recalling certain affected products.

Cottage cheese products with code dates of May 9, 2014 through July 23, 2014 and with the plant code of 06-245 are the only ones affected in this recall. Other products from Kraft Foods Group lines, such as Knudsen's, Simply Kraft, Daily Chef or Breakstone's, are not affected in this recall. Consumers with affected products should return them to the store to exchange them or obtain a full refund. Alternatively, consumers can contact Kraft Foods at their customer relations phone line at 1-800-396-6307.
