New Art Fair in West Palm Beach Helps American Red Cross With Fundraising Efforts This Weekend
Festival Goers Donate More Than $14,500 to Haitian Relief Fund
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Red Cross of Greater Palm Beach will be collecting monetary donations to help the earthquake victims of Haiti when the CityPlace Art Fair, a Howard Alan Events production, debuts in West Palm Beach on January 23 - 24, 2010. "Festival goers responded very generously last weekend during the Downtown Delray Beach Festival of the Arts donating more than $14,500," says Howard Alan, festival promoter. "Our art events are very popular and attract thousands of people; I believe the CityPlace Art Fair will be another great opportunity for the American Red Cross to raise even more money for the people in Haiti who truly need our help."
CityPlace will be transformed into an outdoor art gallery with a unique blend of contemporary art as well as an eclectic mix of the nation's most talented artists who will collectively display over $15 million in artwork. A wine festival will also be featured, allowing festival goers to sample a variety of fine wines with proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society Making Strides for Breast Cancer.
The artists will line the streets of CityPlace with their gallery style display booths displaying their handmade, original work. The artistic media represented include paintings, life size sculptures, photography, glass, wood, jewelry, collage and ceramics. Prices range from $25 hand-designed earrings to $20,000 metal sculptures. The event appeals to families as a free and fun weekend activity, as well as serious art buyers looking to add to their collections. Howard Alan comments, "In spite of today's economy people are still investing in art because art heals, art soothes; this is art that is handmade in America."
