New AxiaRx prescription discount card: Save money, help local humane society

BRADENTON, Fla., May 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- A Bradenton company is introducing a new prescription discount card that will save area residents an average of 45 cents on the dollar for their prescription drugs and help the Humane Society of Manatee County fulfill its mission of offering homeless animals the compassion and respect they deserve.

For example, generic Ambien savings is approximately 72% off retail rates when using the AxiaRx card, Fluticasone, a seasonal allergy spray, is 49% off, and the popular brand drug Avodart receives about a 29% savings at retail pharmacies. Over 50,000 drugs are available for a discount.

The AxiaRx prescription discount cards are free to the public. They're being introduced in Manatee County and other communities around the United States by AxiaRx, of Bradenton. They can be used at many local pharmacies, including national retail chains such as Publix, Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, Kmart, Target and others.

Similar prescription discount cards are available in many areas of the United States. What sets the AxiaRx card's program apart is that part of the money users spend on their prescriptions will go to the Humane Society of Manatee County and other local humane societies in areas where the cards are being introduced.

"These donations will be a big help to the animals we serve, particularly since they'll come directly to us," said Amy Van Dell, executive director of the Humane Society of Manatee. The AxiaRx prescription discount card works in partnership with local pharmacies, not drug companies, to provide deep discounts to large groups of people.
