New Collaboration Matchmaking Technology Offers Special Benefits For US Veterans
Collaborizm Creates Opportunities For Vets And People Exiting The Military Who Want To Start Businesses Or Participate In New Ventures
NEW YORK, Jan. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Collaborizm, an intelligent matchmaking technology uniting aspiring entrepreneurs, makers, creative and veterans based on compatibility criteria, is making their platform available to US servicemen, veterans and soon-to-be vets. The Collaborizm platform allows vets to explore ideas, build teams and work together. The Web site is: www.collaborizm.com/veterans.
The statistics concerning veterans are significant. There are some 6.1 million US veterans who served during the Gulf War era (from August 1990 to 2013), and there were 21.4 million total veterans in the US as of 2013. Of that number, there were 722,000 unemployed veterans in the US last year, and an additional 250,000 service members who enter civilian life each year.
Initial interest from vets has been gratifying, bolstered, in part, by Brig. Gen. John E. Michel, the former Commanding General, NATO Air Training Command-Afghanistan, Kabul, Afghanistan. General Michel has a Collaborizm account, and has tweeted about it to troops and veterans.
"The unemployment rate for veterans in the US is simply unbelievable," said Steven Reubenstone, founder and CEO of Collaborizm. "Last year among veterans of the second Gulf War era (September 2001 to today) the unemployment rate was 9%, and the total rate for all veterans is 6.6%. How are these people who have given so much to us going to find work?"
Since launching Collaborizm in late 2014, Reubenstone has seen a great many vets come into the job market. He quickly determined that vets have unique jobs skills, and that their training and discipline are qualities in any entrepreneurial venture. In addition, vets come from an environment that embraces community and collaboration.
"We find that vets are especially tech-savvy, as well," Reubenstone adds. "To mobilize a virtual-networking one, vets find Collaborizm an innovative platform to start projects, share expertise, and build a better tomorrow. We are excited at the reception Collaborizm has received from the veteran community, and we anticipate vets being among our most active and motivated users."
Veterans who are looking to start their own business, or who wish to join up-and-coming projects, are invited to log onto Collaborizm, completely free.
