LOS ANGELES, Oct. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- New Directions for Veterans (NDVets), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive housing and development services to homeless and at-risk veterans, announced today the organization will host its annual Veterans Canteen gala to benefit homeless veterans on October 29th, 2017 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel beginning at 6pm.
New Directions for Veterans is a nonprofit organization based on the West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs campus that provides housing and social services to more than 1,800 veterans and their families each year. The organization is celebrating its 25th anniversary of helping veterans facing homelessness, substance abuse, PTSD and other challenges recover and take back their lives.
This year's special honorees for their support and advocacy for veterans include Congresswoman Maxine Waters, The Skylight Foundation and homeless and veteran philanthropic supporter Craig C. Darian, the Co-Chairman & CEO of Occidental Entertainment Group Holdings, Inc., with actors Joe Mantegna and Steven Weber returning as masters of ceremony.
"The Veterans Canteen is a great opportunity to unite Southern California for a single common purpose and create awareness about homeless veterans," said Colonel (Ret.) Yvette J. Kelley, CEO and President of NDVets. "Many of our veterans are struggling with circumstances that both war and living on the streets has caused them, and can no longer fight for themselves. The gala will not only be an opportunity to raise much-needed funds to continue the work of New Directions for Veterans, but show gratitude toward both our veterans and those who are willing to fight for them."
