New Gold Announces Inclusion in FTSE Gold Mines Index

VANCOUVER, June 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - New Gold Inc. ("New Gold") (TSX and NYSEAMEX:NGD) today announces it has received notification that following the semi-annual review of the FTSE Gold Mines Index ("Index"), the FTSE Gold Mines Index Committee announced inclusion of New Gold in the Index, which will become effective on June 21, 2010.

The FTSE Gold Mines Index is designed to reflect the performance of the world-wide market in the shares of companies whose principal activity is the mining of gold. Eligibility is based on the quantity of gold production. All Index values are denominated in US dollars.
