New Group (AREAS) Advocates for Clean, Safe Renewable Energy
DENVER, May 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --The current oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. The recent coal tragedy in West Virginia. The call by the National Academy of Sciences last week for actions to reduce carbon emissions in response to climate change. The future risk of financially devastating monthly home heating, cooling, and electricity bills for American families.
How can we deal with these threats to our national and individual security?
A new green grassroots organization, American Renewable Energy Advocates Society (AREAS), has a solution – increase our reliance on new renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency, and reduce our reliance on aging fossil fuels. According to the vision statement on the AREAS website launching today, AREAS believes this solution will move us toward a world "liberated by clean, renewable, energy that is not a danger for our children or their children." A group of local solar students formed this diverse network of energy professionals, community members, and students interested in implementing renewable energy solutions to respond to the energy threats.
AREAS is advocating for solutions in its communities by supporting energy education and encouraging the implementation of energy efficiency and renewable technologies.
AREAS is advocating for its membership by supporting the people best positioned to deal with the threat – those currently working in the solar, wind, conservation and other renewable energy segments, and those who want to join them. In particular, AREAS seeks to support renewable energy small businesses throughout North America.
"People interested in getting into the renewable energy industry represent multiple generations with multiple business experiences, from college freshmen to 30-somethings to baby boomers seeking a new career they can have a passion for," says Charlie D'Angelo, President of AREAS. "Our focus on a low-cost membership made up of small businesses and students separates AREAS from other prominent national and state organizations." Adds Jason Mighell, AREAS Director of Renewable Technology, "We believe we can combine the Internet and social networking savvy of college students with the wisdom and seasoned experience of small business owners, to raise public awareness about energy and inspire effective renewable energy solutions."
Anyone sharing their vision of a renewable energy future can join AREAS at AREASonline.org.
