New Jersey American Water Launches Food Drive
New Jersey American Water Fights Hunger with the Community Food Bank of NJ
VOORHEES, N.J., Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- New Jersey American Water today launched a state wide food drive to help restock the shelves at the Community Food Bank of NJ. From August through the end of September, the company will use television and radio commercials, as well as communications such as bill inserts to customers, to encourage contributions to the state's largest food bank.
"According to a recent report by The New Jersey Federation of Food Banks, its members are providing emergency food for an estimated 830,200 of our fellow New Jersey residents annually. That's a 45 percent increase in just four years," said John Bigelow, president of New Jersey American Water. "So, we and the other members of the New Jersey Utility Association are each undertaking food drives throughout the year as part of NJUA's United to Feed Those in Need effort."
People wishing to help fight hunger in the Garden State can do so from their computers by simply visiting www.newjerseyamwater.com and clicking on the Help "Fight Hunger in New Jersey" link. Visitors will be able to "shop" through a selection of food products needed by the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. When you're finished shopping, go directly to the virtual checkout (no waiting in line needed), pay your bill online, and the rest will be taken care of by the FoodBank. All major credit cards are accepted.
"Rather than going to the grocery store, searching your pantry or dropping off donated goods, you can simply click and give," said Bigelow.
