TAIPEI, Taiwan, Nov. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- New Kinpo Group (NKG), a global electronic manufacturing services (EMS) and original design manufacturing (ODM) company, is earning top awards for its innovations in 2015 and expanding its world leadership in manufacturing across a broad range of key electronic products.
By the end of 2015, NKG will have grown to an estimated $7.9 billion USD in sales, a record for the global corporation that now embraces 22 companies, 72 factories and nearly 45,000 employees. With sales increasing nearly 20 percent over the past three years, NKG has further solidified its leadership position in the production of calculators, printed circuit board assembly, external hard drives, set-top boxes and printers. XYZprinting, a subsidiary of NKG, today is the world's largest provider of 3D printers, accounting for 22 percent of all the world's shipments in this category.
Over the past 10 months, this 3D printing technology has gained "Top Tech of CES" designation for home products by the Digital Trends news site, PC Magazine's "Best of CES" award, and most recently the COMPUTEX Taipei 2015 Best Choice award. XYZprinting introduced a food printer at CES 2015 to help bring affordable, practical devices and technology to consumers, educators and small businesses. NKG will premier even more innovations at CES 2016 in January, when it will exhibit new types of electronic wearables, new applications for robotics, and new devices and systems that expand the Internet of Things.
"We will continue to introduce the world to new categories of technology and new, affordable, high-quality devices that improve lives and help make industry smarter and more efficient," said New Kinpo Group CEO Simon Shen. "Our goal is to enable the masses to enjoy the benefits of advanced electronics and product designs and to make the most impactful, affordable emerging technologies available to consumers to enhance their lives in every way."
Throughout the current year, NKG's involvement in contributing to the advancement of innovative product designs and manufacturing has maintained an increasingly upward trajectory, with expansion of capabilities and capacity. In June, NKG subsidiary Cal-Comp added a plastic injection production line to its factory in Manaus, Brazil, to produce plastic parts onsite for such current products as external hard disk drives, set-top boxes, motherboards, routers and power supplies. In the coming months the plant will begin manufacturing flash memory devices and will introduce production lines for laser printers. The Manaus facility currently operates 12 assembly lines and will expand its workforce 30 percent over the next two years to a total of 2,500.
As part of this commitment, NKG and its subsidiaries are working to advance education in the arenas of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM). XYZprinting recently joined with retailer Barnes & Noble to give students and other consumers the opportunity to see its da Vinci Junior 1.0 3D printers at nearly 650 stores across the United States. During Mini Maker Faires in early November, experts demonstrated ways that 3D printing can be applied to daily life and school studies. Shen also participated in a panel at the Barnes & Noble store in New York City's Union Square, where he discussed tech literacy, creativity and education. Maker Faires, sponsored by Make: magazine, are held across the nation to celebrate arts, crafts, engineering, science projects and the do-it-yourself enthusiasts.
