New MILMEGA High Power Amplifier Exceeds Requirements of Radar Pulse Test Standards

EDISON, N.J., Nov. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- MILMEGA, a unit of AMETEK Compliance Test Solutions, now offers a dual band solid state amplifier that, in conjunction with a new lensed horn package, exceeds the requirements of automotive radar pulse test standards. The AS0104-700/300 complements MILMEGA's existing 1 GHz to 4 GHz amplifiers.

This new amplifier has been optimized to offer maximum available power in two key frequency bands, 1.2 to 1.4 GHz and 2.7 to 3.1 GHz. Test levels are typically 600 V/m, but in some cases 300 V/m. These levels are defined by the vehicle manufacturer's standards.

By using MILMEGA's dual band philosophy, each band covers only one octave (1 to 2 GHz and 2 to 4 GHz). This means that the harmonics of even the lowest frequencies in each band (1.2 GHz and 2.7 GHz) are well outside of the operating range. They are so highly attenuated that it enables the amplifier to be operated at its full saturated power while still meeting the required harmonic performance.
