COLUMBUS, Ohio, Aug. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Equitas Health has announced it will launch a statewide LGBTQ lifestyle publication this fall called Prizm. The publication and accompanying digital news service will focus on current events, health, arts & culture, fashion, politics, news, travel and entertainment and will serve as a resource for the LGBTQ community. The venture will serve as a new line of business and social enterprise for the not-for-profit regional community healthcare and social service delivery system.
The launch of the publication comes after Outlook Ohio Magazine ceased production and left a void in the market for LGBTQ-focused news and community resources. Prizm will be led by Carol Zimmer Clark, who has been publisher for the Dayton Business Journal since early 2011. With over 25 years in the industry, Carol has led advertising sales teams throughout the eastern US, at large metro dailies, including The Columbus Dispatch and The Virginian-Pilot, as well as weekly community newspapers and niche publications. Carol joined Dayton Business Journal in early 2008 as the Director of Advertising and was promoted to Publisher in March of 2011. The team will also include former Outlook Ohio Magazine staff members Mike Moffo, Bob Vitale and Staley Munroe.
The publication's major target market will focus on Ohio's LGBTQ community which equals approximately 4% of the population in the state and roughly 342,084 individuals. "This new business venture presents a unique opportunity for Equitas Health to serve Ohio's LGBTQ communities and to have an outlet in which to share our stories and experiences. Our move into this area is strategically aligned with our mission to serve LGBTQ communities across Ohio," says Bill Hardy, Equitas Health's President & CEO.
The publication has a planned October 2017 launch, with a free pick-up distribution planned for across Ohio. "I am excited about the opportunity to work with the team to build a publication of this type and in this market because of the potential it has to not only serve as a critical resource for the LGBTQ community but also the opportunity to help support Equitas Health's programs and services from a social enterprise perspective," says Clark, Publisher for Prizm.
