New Production Plant in China - Changchun Huf

Huf has celebrated the grand opening of its new plant in China: Changchun Huf Automotive Lock Co. Ltd. is the 20th company within the Huf Group and the forth in China.  

The decision to invest in the 16.700 square meter production site in the northeast automotive region of China was set when Europe was hit by recession and the automotive demand in China grew steadily at the same time.

Changchun Huf is equipped with plastic moulding and painting facilities as well as various assembly lines for production of keys, locking systems, door handles and steering column locks, which are especially supplying car manufacturers in the area. The new Huf subsidiary will unburden the older Huf subsidiary in Yantai, which used to supply the north Chinese market on its own but hit capacity limit. Besides this, the company will also work closely together with Shanghai Huf. Yantai Huf works on plastic moulding as well as dye casting and painting facilities, at Shanghai Huf one finds, besides plastic moulding and painting, also an electronic development centre, an electronic production is in the set-up.

"We are supplying with our products not only international car makers and joint ventures with production capacity in China but also Chinese car manufacturers. This year we received some very attractive orders," explains Ulrich Hülsbeck,  CEO Huf Group. Huf is one of the leading suppliers worldwide of passive-entry-systems many Chinese drivers are very fond of. There are 45 people employed at Changchun Huf at the moment, at the end of the year the number will grow up to 220.

The set-up of Changchun Huf is part of the internationalization strategy of automotive supplier Huf. Besides the expansion in China, a production plant in Mexico was set up last year. The site in Brazil is under construction to double production area, in India as well as Romania new plants are set up. More plants are in the USA, Spain, Portugal, Great Britain and Poland. At the parent company Huf Hülsbeck & Fürst GmbH & Co. KG in Velbert (Germany) about a quarter of the total 5.600 are employed. Huf Group reached a turnover of 847 Million Euro last year.
