New Research Report Reveals Influence of Mobile Apps on Wine Purchases

Landmark survey measures the immediate and incremental sales impact of consumer engagement within wine apps.

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Lotus Growth, a San Francisco-based digital marketing consultancy, and Hello Vino, the leading mobile app among U.S. wine drinkers for recommendations, today published the results of a survey reporting on the influence of mobile wine apps on consumer purchases.

The report includes behavioral consumer data collected by Hello Vino's popular wine recommendation app and installed base of more than 2 million users. By surveying consumers who engaged with a specific set of promoted wines, the Hello Vino app measures sales conversions from the pre-purchase recommendation of a wine to the post-purchase feedback provided by app users.

Google's Shopper Marketing Council reports 84% of smartphone shoppers use their phone to help shop while in a store. 86% of smartphone usage occurs within apps, with only 14% of consumers' smartphone usage taking place on mobile web sites, according to Yahoo! Flurry Analytics' data set of more than 450,000 apps installed on 1.3 billion mobile devices.
