New Ricoh series offers healthcare organizations unparalleled security features for regulatory compliance and savings

MALVERN, Pa., March 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Ricoh USA, Inc. today announced a series of black-and-white devices designed to address the crucial security, space and budgeting needs of acute, ambulatory and extended healthcare facilities. The RICOH MP 501SPFTL/SP 4510SFTE multifunction printers (MFPs) and RICOH SP 4510DNTE/SP 5300DNTL printer series offer organizations powerful devices with security-enhanced firmware to help protect sensitive information. Each is equipped with a specially designed locked print tray, the unique built-in locked print tray that meets the stringent requirements to protect pre-printed prescription paper, standard. Additionally, the RICOH MP 501SPFTL and RICOH SP 5300DNTL are equipped with Teflon-enhanced print trays to help handle the specialized media healthcare providers rely on, such as wristbands and labels.

Protecting regulated media and confidential patient information is a major concern for many healthcare facilities. These new Ricoh healthcare devices address these crucial concerns with their built-in locked trays that help keep specialized paper, such as pre-printed prescription paper, safe. These features maintain regulatory compliance without the need to invest in additional secure storage. Extra-secure firmware helps prevent unauthorized users from gaining access to regulated media, and an optional card authentication package allows only those permitted to access specific functions on the device.

The RICOH MP 501SPFTL and RICOH SP 5300DNTL models can go a step further by leveraging Teflon-enhanced paper trays to allow wristband and label printing, which have been historically difficult to print on. Labels help keep important information and samples organized and identifiable for nurses' stations and phlebotomists, while wristbands are an integral part of the hospital admissions process and help ensure patient safety. Labels' adhesive can accumulate on regular print trays, causing jamming and misfeeds. Teflon-coated trays help prevent this accumulation, but they have historically only been available on specialized label-printing devices. These new devices eliminate the need for – and cost of – those specialized devices. The series' MFPs also boast a 10.1"-wide Smart Operation Panel and can use RICOH Smart Device Connector to make it easier for those who are authorized to move information quickly, easily and securely throughout organizations.

Ideal for acute, ambulatory and extended healthcare facilities, the RICOH SP 4510DNTE/SP 4510SFTE/SP 5300DNTL/MP 501SPFTL can also be fitted with regular, non-locking paper trays for plain paper or preprinted forms. This flexibility, combined with the versatility of the Smart Operation Panel; the printing, copying and scanning power of the hardware; and the placement options afforded by the devices' size, creates a single device that can do the work traditionally expected from a larger fleet. As a result, healthcare facilities can leverage these devices to consolidate equipment, enabling them to get more done while taking up less space and spending less money on hardware and maintenance. Further boosting efficiency, this series prints 1,200 x 1,200 dpi quality and offers high page per minute (ppm) speeds with the 42-ppm RICOH SP 4510DNTE and SP 4510SFTE; 52-ppm RICOH SP 5300DNTL and RICOH MP 501SPFTL.
