New Sci-Fi Author and Filmmaker Robert T. Reif Releases Debut Novel Frontier One

NEW YORK, Sept. 10, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Filmmaker and debut author Robert T. Reif announces the launch of his new science fiction book "Frontier One."

This imaginative work introduces readers to Talina Day, a young astro-zoologist who journeys to the lush jungle planet of Andula. There, she discovers Charlie—a wild, untamed man raised by enormous iguanas called Dracomander. Being born on a planet shrouded by cloud cover, Charlie knows nothing of the stars and believes his planet is flat. Upon seeing above the clouds, Charlie wants to learn more and travels with Talina to her homeworld.

Charlie's primal connection to nature sparks a breathtaking discovery: a rogue thirteenth planet drifting from deep space into the Twelve Worlds—and a mysterious transmission that suggests intelligent life. Together, Charlie and Talina traverse their star system of 12 planets and encounter a cast of unforgettable characters—a space ranger, a moonborn prince, a Varaknow warrior, and a mysterious professor—as they embark on a mission called Frontier One that stretches beyond imagination.

Inspired by a lifelong love of space, adventure, and storytelling, Reif first envisioned the tale as a screenplay several times before deciding to turn it into a novel.

"After years of refining the story, I realized I could keep tweaking it forever—or finally share it with the world," said Reif, who recently did book signings at Chicago's Printers Row Lit Fest. "It's my favorite story that didn't yet exist."

Reif describes the book as accessible for all ages and hopes it inspires a sense of wonder and exploration in readers of all backgrounds.

"I love the idea of a 12-year-old finding 'Frontier One' and getting swept up in it," he said. "Maybe a middle school girl will finish it and want to learn more about astronauts or join the science club. Adults can enjoy it as a lighthearted space adventure while reconnecting with simple themes—respecting nature, loving creation and one another— all told through spaceships, androids and lasers."

"Frontier One" will be a stand-alone work with a complete story arc, but a sequel is already underway. Tentatively titled "Across the Frontier," it will expand the universe of the Twelve Worlds and feature both new and returning characters.

"My happiest moments are when I become part of an unfolding story—riding the highs and lows—and walk away feeling more complete from the fictional experience," he added. "You only get that feeling so often, so I created it for myself—and now, for others."
