New Scoliosis & Spine Tumor Center Established at Texas Health Plano

Internationally renowned surgeon recruited as medical director

PLANO, Texas, May 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano has launched a new Scoliosis & Spine Tumor Center and recruited one of the top spine surgeons in the world as its medical director.

Under the leadership of Dr. Isador Lieberman -- a fellowship-trained orthopedic and spinal surgeon, recognized both nationally and internationally for his contributions to minimally invasive/endoscopic spinal surgery and for his treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures -- the center will enhance the current back, spine and orthopedic services offered at Texas Health Plano. The center will join with Texas Back Institute, as well as complement Texas Health Plano's well-known and successful Joint Replacement Program, to offer a full spectrum of orthopedic cutting-edge technologies and clinical solutions, delivered by physicians supported by a multidisciplinary team of nurses, rehabilitation therapists and more.

Dr. Lieberman, who brings several decades of clinical, research and educational experience, comes to Plano from the Cleveland Clinic, where he served as chairman of the Spine Department. Dr. Lieberman specializes in the surgical treatment of various types of spinal disorders, with particular emphasis on minimally invasive/endoscopic spinal surgery; adolescent and adult scoliosis; deformity reconstruction; and cervical and lumbar degenerative disorders, including herniated discs and stenosis, spinal tumors, infections and trauma. In addition, he treats osteoporotic compression fractures (kyphoplasty) and musculoskeletal manifestations of multiple myeloma.

Dr. Lieberman has designed and developed numerous spinal surgery instruments and implants, and currently has 15 issued and 13 pending U.S. patents. His research has appeared in more than 70 peer-reviewed publications, as well as in numerous books, chapters and journals.

A graduate of the University of Toronto's medical school and residency program, Dr. Lieberman is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, as well as holding specialist certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Texas Health Plano's new Scoliosis and Spine Tumor Center provides preventative, medical and surgical care to patients suffering from scoliosis, kyphosis, spondylolisthesis, spinal tumors and spinal issues requiring complex treatment and reconstruction.
