New Signature Slider Developed By White Castle Fan On Sale For One Day Only
Charity auction winning bidder won trip to White Castle test kitchen and chance to create new slider
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time, and for one day only, White Castle will be serving a slider created, and named, by one lucky Craver. Rich Lerner won the honor of putting his creative touch on The Original Slider® as part of a charity raffle. The signature sandwich will be sold in White Castle restaurants across the country on Sunday, October 8, when Cravers can get a taste of Rich's creation, "The Chipper."
The auction was part of a charity fundraiser, proceeds from which went to support individuals of all ages living with Autism. In further support of Autism research, Rich and White Castle have each pledged to donate ten cents per "Chipper" slider sold on Sunday, October 8, to Autism Speaks, a leading organization dedicated to increasing understanding and acceptance of people with autism spectrum disorder.
"When they first announced I had won, I initially thought, 'I couldn't possibly change the recipe, the Original Slider is too perfect as it is!" said Rich Learner. "But once I arrived at White Castle's test kitchen and met with the Head Chef, I was inspired to draw from some of my favorite items off the menu and produce this simple, yet delicious sandwich. The whole experience was a dream come true!"
Mr. Lerner wanted to highlight the flavors already loved by Cravers everywhere. Utilizing The Original Slider®, "The Chipper" is stacked high with onion chips and topped off with ketchup, for extra zest and flavor.
