New Website Introduces Consumers to Amazing World of Silicones
HERNDON, Va., June 26, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Global Silicones Council (GSC) today announced the launch of a new global website, siliconesinfo.com, which demonstrates the innovative and wide-ranging uses of silicones.
"Siliconesinfo.com is a one-stop-shop for consumers interested in discovering how silicones are used to improve their daily lives," said Peter Cartwright, Chair of the GSC Global Coordinating Committee. "We believe that consumers will be fascinated by the variety of ways that silicone innovation positively impacts their lives and the world around them."
With the tagline, "Silicones: Inspiring Innovation", the user-friendly website highlights how silicone-based materials are used at work, at play and at home in everything from cars to computers, from cookware to athletic equipment.
"We have found that consumers are very curious about where silicone materials come from and how they are used in everyday products," said Pierre Germain, European Silicones Centre (CES) Secretary General. "This website answers these questions in compelling and interesting ways."
Siliconesinfo.com explains how silicone is formed from silicon and oxygen atoms and how it can take many forms – from liquids to solids – that allow for a variety of commercial uses. Silicones are present in many consumer products thanks to a unique combination of properties that include outstanding resilience, malleability and bonding abilities.
"The general public who is interested in learning more about the practical uses of silicones will find answers to these questions and more on this website," said Karluss Thomas, Executive Director of the Silicones Environment, Health and Safety Council of North America (SEHSC). "It truly helps bring silicones to life for consumers of all ages."
