New York Area Kids Invited to Help Break Guinness World Records' Tennis Title With World Tennis Champs American Mardy Fish and Germany's Andrea Petkovic, Friday, Aug. 26, 8:30 A.M., USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, Flushing Meadows, N.Y.

CHICAGO and FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. , Aug. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- New York-area kids are invited to join two top 10 world tennis champions, American Mardy Fish and Germany's Andrea Petkovic, in an attempt to break the Guinness World Records title for the "most people bouncing a tennis ball on a tennis racquet in one location." The record-breaking attempt, sponsored by Wilson, will be held on Friday, August 26, 2011, from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y., courts P10-15 near the boardwalk.

Check-in is from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., with the record attempt scheduled for 9 to 9:15 a.m.

The current Guinness Record was set in England in 2006 when 383 players bounced a ball off their racquets at the same time.

The first 500 kids ages 12 and under to participate will receive a free Wilson junior racquet and can of balls as part of the tennis manufacturer's efforts to encourage more youth to participate in tennis, according to Mike Steck, Wilson Racquet Global Director of Marketing. The first 800 will receive a free Wilson t-shirt.

Fish and Petkovic are encouraging kids to get fit and get into tennis. One of the first things players learn when starting tennis is to bounce the ball on their racquet and the Guinness World Record attempt will have players of all ages doing just that.

Directions: Courts P10-15 near boardwalk. No. 7 train goes right to the event. Drivers can use the commuter lot on Roosevelt Ave.
