While Jennifer Melton and her family where still in the hospital celebrating the birth of their son, Nate, a doctor allegedly performed a tongue-cutting procedure on the son after mixing him up with another infant. The procedure, a frenulectomy, is the cutting of the flap of skin under a tongue. In some infants, the skin is too tight and the procedure is used to correct the issue.

However, the reports claim that the doctor, whose name has not been yet released, has admitted to the mistake and has apologized to the family. It is not sure what, if any, problems the procedure will cause in the otherwise healthy newborn, but his parents worry that he may have trouble eating and speaking.
