Sep 17, 2013, 09:30 ET from New York Wine Festivals

NEW YORK, Sept. 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- New York Wine Festivals announces the NYC Autumn Wine Festival at Conrad New York in downtown Manhattan on Saturday, November 9, 2013. The autumn tasting event will feature 200+ wines curated by Vintry Fine Wines plus light fare by Union Square Events, Conrad New York's exclusive caterer. Attendees will also enjoy live contemporary jazz performances during each tasting session by Grammy®-nominated guitarist Gil Parris.

Tasting tables located throughout the venue will offer a wide array of high-quality wines from around the globe including Burgundy samplings, Italian varieties, Champagnes, and selections from Portugal. California offerings will feature top mainstays, plus exciting dark horse grapes showcasing the state's range.

New York Wine Festival's popular winter tastings have sold out for the last four years and this autumn's event is expected to do the same. Festival attendees can choose from two sessions: Afternoon: 3-6pm or Evening: 8-11pm. For an additional fee, guests may take an Exclusive Wine Class taught by the American Sommelier Association's top sommeliers. Three classes are offered during each session: History in the Tasting, Principles of Blind Tasting, and Sugar & Spice and Everything Twice.

"This year's event is our most elegant yet. Set at Conrad New York, featuring a curated wine selection by Vintry Fine Wines, light fare by Union Square Events, and live performances by a top contemporary jazz artist, guests will be treated to an incredible wine, food and entertainment experience," notes S.W. Kimball, Founder, New York Wine Festivals.

"We'd be delighted if attendees viewed the Autumn Wine Festival as a weekend getaway by staying at the Conrad New York for one or two nights, with special rates starting at $299 per night," said Robert Rechtermann, General Manager, Conrad New York.

Musical guest, guitarist Gil Parris, known for his special blend of blues, jazz, rock, and smooth jazz, has recorded and toured as both a solo artist and sideman with Dr. John; Blood, Sweat & Tears; Diane Schuur; David Mann; and Toni Braxton, among others.

Sponsors include Dr. Frank Vinifera Wine Cellars, TMRW: The Most Romantic Wine, The Naked Grape Wine, OneHope Wine, Wine Sisterhood, Kelly & Jones, and Green Mountain Energy; more to be announced shortly.

A portion of the festival's proceeds will benefit Creative Arts Workshops for Kids (CAW), a nonprofit arts education and youth development organization dedicated to empowering urban youth through the use of the arts.

NYC Autumn Wine Festival tickets are on sale now, priced at $99. (Final week: $109) Space is limited; advance purchase is recommended. An additional $25 per Wine Class applies for those adding classes to their festival experience.
