Newly Launched US BioDesign to Provide OEM Development/Manufacturing Services to Medical Device Customers
PERKASIE, Pa., Nov. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- A new company has been created to provide medical textile constructs to customers for implantable medical devices. US BioDesign, located in Bucks County, PA, will be establishing relationships with other medical device OEM firms to broaden the company's breadth of expertise and product offerings.
US BioDesign's founders, Tom Molz – CEO and Skott Greenhalgh – CTO, are veterans of the medical device industry, and specifically in providing OEM products to customers, as they were two of the founders of Secant Medical in 2002. Commented Molz, "We have been receiving many calls over the past several years from our friends and former colleagues in the industry, asking for our help with their textile based medical devices. Evidently, the needs of many customers were not being met, so there is definitely a demand for our expertise in the industry." Added Greenhalgh, "US BioDesign has designed and acquired some very unique equipment, including the world's largest medical braiding machine. With this equipment and the strong skills of our employees, all industry veterans, we are able to provide many specialized product solutions to our customers. We understand the importance of delivering a solution to our customers in a timely manner, as time equals money in the eyes of our customer."
The new company will target products and services in the cardiovascular, orthopedic, general surgery and neurological device segments of the health care industry. US BioDesign's main focus will be to efficiently solve the customer's need for a medical textile construct – out of polymeric and/or metallic raw materials. "All of our competitors are textile companies first, medical companies second. These competitors often quote multiple samples to solve their customer's problem, taking considerable time and charging significant development fees for these activities. US BioDesign is set up on day one to be a medical company first and a textile company second. We realize the importance of working with our customer to support their medical device -- quickly and efficiently," said Tom Molz.
