Newport Beach Communities Receive National Landscape Awards
SAN CLEMENTE, Calif., Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Bemus Landscape, Inc., one of Southern California's leading landscape contractors, announced today that Bemus and Newport Beach communities, One Ford Road and Linda Isle, received landscape awards from the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET), a national association of green industry professionals dedicated to creating and preserving the beauty and diversity of the American landscape. The awards will be handed out at PLANET's Green Industry Conference in Louisville, Kentucky, Friday, October 29, 2010.
In response to the win, Bemus general manager, Jon Parry, noted, "Only a handful of projects around the country were recognized this year. We're proud to be responsible for two of them. We are especially honored that our horticultural efforts place Bemus, and these great communities, among the finest examples of landscape maintenance nationwide."
One Ford Road, a lushly-landscaped 35-acre community built more than a decade ago on the site of a former Ford aerospace plant, received an Environmental Improvement Award of Merit for the quality of its semi-formal landscape – a diverse design palette that includes rose gardens, cultivated green space, contemplation gardens, water features, a professional quality putting green, and mature heritage trees all irrigated by water-smart technology. Bemus Landscape is not only the property's current landscape and horticultural services partner, but the original installation contractor. Bemus has maintained the property's landscape since its inception.
Linda Isle, one of seven exclusive residential islands in Newport Harbor, received an Environmental Improvement Award of Distinction. The island is noted for its vibrant seasonal displays of annual color, its massive Canary Island date palms, and canopies of mature coral trees—some specimens of which are among the largest examples in Southern California. One-hundred percent of the island's green waste is reprocessed at Bemus' in-house recycling facility and returned to the community gardens as mulch.
One Ford Road and Linda Isle are managed by Keystone Pacific Property Management, Inc., Irvine, California.
In addition, Linda Isle and Bemus Landscape, Inc. received a recent Judges Award for Landscape Beautification – the highest landscape honor in any category – from the Orange Country Chapter of the California Landscape Contractors Association.
