Next to the National Campaign Press Statement
NEW YORK, Feb. 19 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Following is a press statement from Reverend Dr. Wendell Anthony:
Throughout this campaign, it has always been my intention to share and create fresh ideals and communicate with branches that are fighting everyday in the trenches on behalf of their members and the community at-large, as well as to elevate the conversation by which NAACP leadership is both identified and elected through new avenues with a clear and transparent process. To this degree my campaign was extremely successful.
I have stated that this has never been a solo journey but a journey for us all to focus on the principles of why our great organization was founded and to continue the fight for equity for all persons. In other words, it was never about the "me-go," it was always about the "we-go." I believe that it is important for us to remain as the nation's premier civil rights organization focused on the key issues that affect the day-to-day lives of our people. We must not lose sight of who we are as the voice of the neglected and rejected. Further, we must instill a new hope and belief in the spirit of our people that the NAACP is still viable, relevant and extremely necessary.
It is with sincere gratitude that I thank all those who have supported my campaign to be re-elected to the NAACP National Board of Directors and selected as the next Chairman. While I was unsuccessful in my endeavor, I look forward to continuing to be of service to my community by serving as Pastor of Fellowship Chapel, President of the Detroit Branch NAACP (the largest branch in our nation), a member of the NAACP Special Contribution Fund Board of Trustees, and representing the State of Michigan on the Advisory Committee to the United States Civil Rights Commission, thus continuing to allow me to be an uncompromising voice advocating for the critical issues of our time regarding freedom, justice and equality.
God's Blessings Upon The NAACP,
Reverend Dr. Wendell Anthony
