NFP Names Michael Goldman Chief Operating Officer

NEW YORK, July 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- National Financial Partners Corp., a leading provider of benefits, insurance and wealth management services, today announced that Michael N. Goldman has been appointed Chief Operating Officer, effective July 1st. Mr. Goldman, who most recently served as Executive Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), will report directly to NFP's Chief Executive Officer, Douglas W. Hammond. The Company also announced that Carl E. Nelson, Senior Vice President of M&A, has been named Head of M&A.

As COO, Mr. Goldman will oversee the Company's capital deployment initiatives, including strategic acquisitions and management contract buyouts. He will also focus on operational initiatives that advance NFP's strategy and enhance the Company's ability to serve clients.

Additional Biographical Information

Mr. Goldman was named Senior Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions of NFP in 2005 and Executive Vice President of NFP in 2008. Previously, he served as Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel for the company. Mr. Goldman began his career as an associate in the Mergers & Acquisitions department of the law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Yale University and his Juris Doctor from Columbia University School of Law.

Mr. Nelson joined NFP in 2001 and most recently served as Senior Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions. Prior to joining NFP, Mr. Nelson guided M&A efforts at Ernst & Young LLP and Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLP. Mr. Nelson holds a Bachelor of Arts from Syracuse University and his MBA from Fordham University.
