Nira Medical Welcomes Dr. Augusto Miravalle and Kathy Keefer as Key Advisors; Launches National Initiatives to Elevate MS and Brain Health Care
NEW YORK, Sept. 23, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Nira Medical today announced the appointment of two nationally recognized leaders in multiple sclerosis care and patient advocacy to its advisory team, alongside the launch of new national programs designed to advance clinical excellence, mentorship, and patient engagement across the MS community.
Dr. Augusto Miravalle, Chief of Neuroimmunology and Multiple Sclerosis at Rush University, joins as Medical Director of Education. Kathy Keefer, President of the Brain Health Center of the Rockies, joins as Manager of Patient Education. Together with Dr. Mike Edgeworth, Nira's Chief Medical Officer, they will spearhead initiatives that strengthen both clinician and patient education, bridging academic-level resources into private practice settings where such programs are rare but urgently needed.
A nationally recognized authority in neuroimmunology, Dr. Miravalle has dedicated his career to advancing care, research, and education in MS, holding leadership roles at top academic institutions and publishing extensively in the field. Kathy Keefer brings decades of experience in patient advocacy and education, having guided thousands of patients through the complexities of MS with empathy, accessibility, and a focus on community-building.
Under their leadership, Nira Medical will roll out a series of programs this year and in 2026, including:
- National Mentorship Program for early-career neurologists across the Nira network
- Collaborative Case Conferences, with the first one launching in October 2025, will elevate clinical decision-making for complex neurological conditions
- Patient-focused educational events such as the virtual webinar series NeuroWellness Talks, Brain Health Master Class series, and more
"Supporting the next generation of MS specialists is one of the most important things we can do to advance care," said Dr. Miravalle. "These programs will create space for mentorship, shared learning, and clinical excellence, so we can better serve patients together."
"The voices of patients and caregivers must guide how we grow," added Keefer. "By building bridges between clinical expertise and lived experience, we're making care more collaborative, compassionate, and effective."
"What's unique is that these programs, common in academic centers, are rare in private practice," said Dr. Edgeworth. "Bringing them into our clinics will raise the level of care for every patient with a neurological disease."
Today's announcement underscores Nira Medical's mission to create a national model for brain health rooted in clinical excellence, patient-centered innovation, and continuous learning.
