SAN DIEGO, Nov. 12, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- The San Diego chapter of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI San Diego) will welcome Kathleen M. Carney, Senior Legal Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, Relational Investors on Thursday, November 18th at 5:30 p.m. at San Diego's Websense, Inc. in a program entitled "An Active Investor's Perspective on Unlocking Shareholder Value." Relational ranks as one of the country's highest profile and most successful activist investors. The program will include information of interest to IR professionals, CEOs, CFOs, and corporate legal counsels.
This is the second program of NIRI San Diego's well-received two-part series on the rise of activist investing.
Ms. Carney will discuss Relational's approach to:
- investment strategy and process
- forms of engagement – working with the board of directors, management and other shareholders
- investor relations and corporate communications
A networking reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by the presentation from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Websense, 10240 Sorrento Valley Road, San Diego, CA 92121. About Kathleen Carney
Ms. Carney joined Relational in July 2009 as Senior Legal Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. In addition to coordinating general legal matters and compliance, Ms. Carney assists the investment staff in analyzing governance issues and developing engagement strategies at Relational's portfolio companies.
