NJCU School of Business Launches Honors Program in Finance; Full-tuition Scholarships for All Students Accepted

JERSEY CITY, N.J., March 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The NJCU School of Business is launching an Honors Program in Finance to provide a select group of outstanding students with an academically-enriched program that prepares them for finance-related leadership roles in the global marketplace. 

The Honors Program in Finance is cohort based, featuring small classes and personalized faculty support.  Dr. Bernard McSherry, an NJCU assistant professor of finance and a former governor of the New York Stock Exchange, will direct the program, which is now accepting applicants for fall 2014.

The NJCU School of Business, established in 2013, is comprised of four independent departments: Finance, Accounting, Management, and Marketing.

The Honors Program in Finance will offer all students who qualify:

• Full-tuition scholarships for four-years
• Courses taught by faculty who are industry experts
• Two study abroad experiences
• Integrated workplace internships
• Membership in NJCU's award-winning Student Investment Management Group (SIM), which won first place for growth investment style in an international competition
• On-site industry visits
• Free use of a laptop computer.

Admissions requirements for the Honors Program in Finance include:

• High school average of 90 or higher
• Minimum SAT critical reading and math scores of 550 and 1200 combined
• Student essay
• High School faculty recommendation
• Interview with the Honors Program Admissions Committee
