North Carolina 8th Graders Win $10,000 at 2013 National School SCRABBLE Championship in Washington, DC
WASHINGTON, May 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- A pair of 8th graders from Smith Middle School in Chapel Hill, NC defeated 88 other teams from all over the United States and Canada to win the 11th annual event. Kevin Bowerman and Raymond Gao finished the event with a 6-1 record and +717 point spread.
