RALEIGH, N.C., Oct. 15 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- North Carolina's Touchstone Energy cooperatives will sponsor the 14th Annual Clover Classic golf tournament benefitting NC 4-H Youth Development on Monday, October 18, at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C.
The golf tournament was created to celebrate those individuals and businesses, including the state's participating electric cooperatives, who have generously donated to 4-H throughout the year. One electric cooperative will be recognized at the event for its outstanding efforts to raise money for local 4-H programs in its service territory. Last year's Clover Classic raised more than $16,000 for North Carolina 4-H Youth Development initiatives statewide, and this year's tournament is set to be an even greater success.
"North Carolina's Touchstone Energy cooperatives value our relationship with 4-H, as many 4-H participants are also cooperative members," said Nelle Hotchkiss, senior vice president of North Carolina's Touchstone Energy cooperatives. "Our partnership with NC 4-H is just another example of the cooperatives' ongoing commitment to the local communities we serve," Hotchkiss continued.
All proceeds from the tournament, including silent auction sales will be used to fund Citizenship NC Focus, a legislative conference held in Raleigh for 4-H youth. At this conference participants learn how their local government operates and discuss current issues facing youth in their own communities. Citizenship participants also get the opportunity to talk to meet their elected officials face-to-face when they visit the general assembly.
North Carolina's electric cooperatives serve more than 2.5 million people in 93 of the state's 100 counties.
