CHICAGO, March 21, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- In a bid to make science fresh, fun, and engaging for high school juniors and seniors, North Park University will once again open its state-of-the-art science facilities for the annual Summer Science Academy this June. For the third year in a row, participating students will have access to North Park's cutting edge equipment and laboratories, where they will receive university-quality instruction in a supportive, enriching environment.
Classes are taught by North Park professors, who bring science to life by exploring human anatomy, animal behavior, and the chemistry of food.
"My daughter loved every minute and came home with so many fascinating stories and experiences," said the mother of a 2017 participant. "What an incredible opportunity North Park offers these high schoolers."
Dr. Yoojin Choi, the program's coordinator, said North Park started the program so high schoolers could have access to high-quality, engaging science courses. The idea, she said, is to foster in young people a curiosity about science, which eventually leads to their involvement in science-related careers.
"These courses are a great opportunity for students to experience science as closely as it could be at a college level but with the added guidance appropriate for high schoolers," Choi said.
