
Northeast Ohio Businesses Come Together for Day of Community Service
Business Volunteers Unlimited celebrates "Summer of Service" event
Event provides $25,000 value of volunteer time to local nonprofits
CLEVELAND, July 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Business Volunteers Unlimited (BVU) works with businesses year-round to engage their employees in meaningful volunteer service. On Friday, July 14, 2017 nearly 400 business volunteers contributed over 1,100 hours to local nonprofits as part of BVU's "Summer of Service" event. Volunteers trimmed, pulled, and painted their way to a fun-filled day.
Projects included:
- Sprucing up inner-city neighborhood farms for the Cleveland Botanical Garden's Green Corps'
- Beautifying the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) red line by picking up trash and cutting back overgrowth
- Painting and cleaning at the Children's Museum of Cleveland
- Picking up litter at the Cleveland Metroparks Lakefront Reservation
- Assembling picnic tables, planting and installing flowerboxes at Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry's 2100 Lakeside Men's Shelter
BVU coordinates a "Summer of Service" volunteer event for employees at local businesses to promote engagement and commitment to our region. Sponsored by Cargill, The Shelly Company, and the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD), this year marks BVU's 11th annual "Summer of Service".

This year's participating businesses included: Athersys, Calfee, Cargill, Dominion East Ohio, KeyBank, Lincoln Electric, NEORSD, Oswald, the Shelly Company, and Skoda Minotti.

- Alliance for the Great Lakes
- Children's Museum of Cleveland
- Cleveland Botanical Garden's Buckeye and Midtown Learning Farm
- Cleveland Metoparks (5 locations)
- Doan Brook Partnership
- Jennings Center for Older Adults
- Judson at University Circle
- Lake Erie Nature & Science Center
- Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry's 2100 Lakeside Men's Shelter
- Nature Center at Shaker Lakes

- Regional Transit Authority
