NOT ALL GERMS ARE CREATED EQUAL: New Documentary RESISTANCE by Uji Films Tours North Carolina to Shine Spotlight on the Biggest Drug Abuse Problem in the U.S. - Antibiotics

DURHAM, N.C., Sept. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Food & Water Watch, Slow Food NC, the Environmental Working Group are inviting North Carolinians to screenings of a new documentary that shows how antibiotics have gone from being super drugs to the underlying cause of super bugs. Resistance will begin a four-city tour of North Carolina on Sept. 7 in Asheville and end in Durham on Sept. 10.

Resistance delves into the issue of antibiotic overuse from the halls of medicine to the halls of Congress to the stalls of hog farms to sound a warning bell about what the Centers for Disease Control is calling the greatest threat to human health.

The screenings, which are free and open to the public, will include panel discussions with local leadership, scientists, farmers and victims of antibiotic resistant bacteria to talk about how North Carolinians can help preserve the medical miracle of antibiotics before it's too late.

Resistance pulls back the curtain on how we got here, and provides insights into what we can do so that these life-saving medicines we rely on will work when we really need them," said filmmaker Michael Graziano, Uji Films, who will be attending each of the North Carolina screenings.

Michael Graziano wrote and directed Resistance. He and Resistance Co-producer Ernie Park founded Uji Films in 2007.  Their films have aired nationally and internationally in more than 100 countries, are distributed in in more than 100 countries, the educational market, and have been screened at a variety of well-known festivals.
