With suicides at epidemic proportions, NOT ALONE, a leading national 501c3 nonprofit that provides no-cost programs and services to warriors, veterans and their families facing the challenges of life after war, opens in NYC, hosted by the Soldiers', Sailors', Marines', Coast Guard & Airmans' Club of New York City
NEW YORK, March 7, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The nation's leading service and resource organization providing no-cost programs for returning warriors, veterans and their families opens in NYC at an event hosted by the Soldiers', Sailors', Marines', Coast Guard & Airmans' Club, Inc. Media briefing at the SSMA Club on Friday, March 9th is 6:00 p.m., with Not Alone Chairman, Rear Admiral Edward 'Sonny' Masso, USN (Ret) and twice Purple Heart Recipient, CEO of Not Alone, Mike Jones. Media are invited to the presentations, cocktails and dinner.
Special presentations include Rear Admiral Edward 'Sonny' Masso, USN (Ret), a 9/11 Pentagon survivor who witnessed eleven of his colleagues and staff killed on that tragic day. According to RADM Masso: "With the suicide rate amongst our military population at epidemic proportions and an additional estimated 42,000 returning warriors each year in desperate need of mental health care resources, Not Alone uniquely provides direct support programs, training, education and outreach, corporate employment and transition training for returning warriors and their families in their strategic research partnerships with Centerstone Research Institute and the Vanderbilt Center for Better Health."
Not Alone's CEO, Mike Jones explains: "What makes Not Alone different is that it pro-actively finds returning warriors before problems get out of control. Many warriors and veterans will not seek help due to the stigma involved with accessing traditional care sources such as the VA or the Department of Defense. Loneliness, de-sensitization and isolation are a growing trend and there is a lack of predictive methods to determine who is susceptible to PTSD as there is a significant barrier for them in accessing traditional mental healthcare."
In tribute of this NYC opening, there will be a preview of the West Point Museum legacy portrait painting of General David H. Petraeus by Vatican artist, Maestro Igor Babailov, www.babailov.com. Not Alone is a company of Centerstone, Inc., one of the nation's leading mental health providers.
