VIENNA, Austria, January 13 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of the 75th anniversary of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, NOUSguide Inc. is launching its multimedia guide for the first time in a major American museum. The interactive features of the guide tell the stories behind the artworks through texts, games and interviews with artists, curators and visitors, thus enriching the museum visit.
The guide has been developed in close partnership with the Museum. NOUS, with its pioneering Content Management System for Apple's iPod touch and iPhone, has enabled the processing and organisation of extensive data and the development of special interface designs for the SFMOMA.
Peter Samis, Associate Curator, SFMOMA: "Rich media resources from our archives have allowed us to include audio and video from artists. Curatorial commentaries and conversations are augmented by curated "Guest Takes," in which artists, musicians and poets give their own creative response to specific works in the collection. With NOUS we have found the ideal partner for our mobile interpretation projects."
200 guides, in 4 languages (English, Spanish, French and German), can be borrowed by visitors to the SFMOMA free of charge.
Additionally downloading from the iTunes AppStore a NOUSguide tour of the recently-opened rooftop garden onto the visitor's own iPhone or IPod touch is possible. This app has direct user feedback capabilities for social media tools like Twitter and is a further 2-way channel of communication between the museum and the visitors, thus establishing a global network of relationships with SFMOMA's followers.
NOUSguide. Inc, San Francisco was founded in 2009 as a subsidiary enterprise of NOUS with its head office in Vienna, Austria. NOUS has implemented more than 30 museum-, exhibition space- and festival projects worldwide.
