Novus Support of St. Louis Area Foodbank Helps Jumpstart the Season of Giving
The 2nd annual food drive was a huge success
ST. LOUIS, Sept. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- At a time when food banks nationally are seeing their shelves go bare, Novus International, Inc. is helping stock the shelves in the St. Louis metro area. Novus recently completed its 2nd Annual Food Drive with all donations going to benefit the St. Louis Area Foodbank.
Novus held their food drive from August 15 – September 4. With the recent drought still very much top of mind, Novus used the theme 'Together We Can Make it Rain' as a rallying cry to encourage its employees to participate. Employees were provided weekly updates showing the total combined giving of money and donated food. Four employee volunteers including Chris Knight, Kevin Mowery, Steve Bass and Tracy Barfield served as team leaders to provide additional motivation.
By all accounts, the Novus Food Drive was a huge success. Employees contributed a combined $4,509.69 of money and donated food. With the company matching employee contributions, the total raised and donated was $8,896.88. Each dollar donated will provide four meals to hungry people in the bi-state area. Four pounds of food is the equivalent of $1.
"We're proud to support the St. Louis Area Foodbank," said Lisa Ervin, North America Accounts Payable Manager, at Novus. "With a corporate vision to help feed the world affordable, wholesome food and achieve a higher quality of life, we recognize that it begins right here at home. We have been blessed as a company and are delighted to be able to help families in the St. Louis area."
The St. Louis Area Foodbank gathers and distributes millions of pounds of food and personal care items to make a difference in the lives of those in need of food assistance. In 2010, the Foodbank distributed over 25 million pounds of food in the 26 counties in Missouri and Illinois that it services. The Foodbank distributes food to 478 pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and feeding programs. For further details visit their website at www.stlfoodbank.org.
