NRHA Website Wins International Award
NORFOLK, Va., June 18 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The recently overhauled Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (NRHA) website has received an Award of Distinction in the 2010 Communicator Awards from the International Academy of the Visual Arts.
The 2010 competition received over 7,000 entries from across the U.S. and around the world, making it the largest and most prestigious award of its kind. Awards were announced at the end of May.
The Communicator Awards are judged and overseen by the International Academy of the Visual Arts (IAVA), a 550+ member organization of leading professionals from various disciplines of the visual arts dedicated to embracing progress and the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media. Current IAVA membership represents a "Who's Who" of acclaimed media, advertising and marketing firms including: Conde Nast, Coach, Disney, Estee Lauder, HBO, MTV, Polo Ralph Lauren, Sotheby's Institute of Art, Wired, Yahoo! and more.
"As we continue our mission to honor Creative Excellence for Communications Professionals, we were once again amazed at the high level of work we received for this year's Communicator Awards. With this year's entries we found an increased awareness and reflection of the digital world in which we live, and our entrants always seem to find new and creative ways to push the envelope of possibilities across all mediums," noted Linda Day, director of the IAVA.
NRHA's Communications and Marketing Department, assisted by 3 Waves Media, Virginia Beach, redesigned the website with the user in mind as well as search engine optimization and digital media interface.
"We set out to build a best-of-class website for our industry sector and are gratified by this recognition," said Ed Ware, NRHA Director, Communications and Marketing. "The challenge now is to keep content fresh and relevant for the citizens we serve," he said.
There is consistent main navigation throughout the site and the homepage features several points of quick access to information. Other features include a site-wide search feature, RSS feed, upcoming events scroll, video integration, events calendar with registration ability, a news section that dynamically displays news headlines, publications, House Plans Library and newsletter sign up.
