NT OBJECTives CTO Dan Kuykendall to Present on Securing Mobile and Web Services at THOTCON Hacking Event in Chicago

Mar 28, 2013, 09:00 ET from NT OBJECTives

CHICAGO, March 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --

THOTCON is a small venue hacking conference based in Chicago, IL. Now in its fourth year, it is designed to provide one of the best information security conference experiences combined with a uniquely casual and social experience.

Dan Kuykendall, co-CEO and CTO will present "Get off your AMF and Don't REST on JSON." The session covers how to understand and attack mobile applications and web services that are built in new formats such as JSON, REST and AMF:

  • Applications today go beyond HTML, but few security teams have updated their testing procedures to handle new formats such as REST, JSON, AMF and GWTk.
  • All of these new formats are potential new playgrounds for attackers and pen testers.
  • Dan will demonstrate the process of breaking down these new formats and show where to attack them on sample vulnerable applications.
  • Attendees will learn to leverage their existing pen testing methods.
  • Attendees will be able to participate in the session by generating mobile traffic on WIFI Pineapple and then watching a live attempt to discover weakness in the mobile backends powering those apps.
