NTSB Scheduled to Meet to Determine the Probable Cause of a 2015 Train Crash
On February 3, 2015, a crash involving an SUV and a Metro-North commuter train claimed the lives of five train passengers and the driver of the SUV, as well as seriously injuring several other commuters on the train. NEW YORK, July 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is set to meet on Tuesday, July 25 to discuss and determine the probable cause of the 2015 Metro-North train crash.
The crash occurred on February 3, 2015 when the SUV was struck by the train at a grade crossing in Valhalla, NY, fatally injuring the driver of the SUV and five passengers on the train. The NTSB will hold a hearing regarding the Valhalla crash investigation beginning at approximately 9:30 a.m. It will also be broadcast live online at http://ntsb.capitolconnection.org/.
The NTSB will also consider a safety study on reducing speed-related crashes by examining proven and emerging countermeasures.
